Techweek 2022: Code-along with Code Club Aotearoa in Python

This year we are celebrating Techweek with a remote code-along session, inviting kiwi kids from all over Aotearoa to join the fun! We want to showcase one of the awesome projects our Code Club tamariki work through each week at their in-person and online weekly code club sessions.

The session is about exposing young learners to text-based programming using Trinket and Python, building on the skills learned in Scratch and encouraging more independent digital making. The project is for ākonga aged 10-13 and participants will need to be familiar with using a keyboard as there is typing involved. The session is an hour-long and open to all schools, community groups, and children, regardless of whether they usually attend Code Club. However, we recommend a basic understanding of introductory programming or experience using a block-based language.

We want to see Code Clubs in every school, kura and library across the motu, at the end we’ll share Code Club registration info and offer our ongoing support to those wanting to join the Code Club Aotearoa whānau!

Register below and we’ll be in touch with the necessary info and the video conferencing link.
